The Sedgwick County District Court Records department is responsible for processing circuit court case records, among other duties. Court records are documents generated during legal proceedings, such as criminal case files, bankruptcy records, and records from family or probate court. They contain information about these legal proceedings, including names of the parties involved, dates of hearings, testimony and evidence, and rulings in cases. Court records are kept in office for a period of time and then disposed of or archived. Most are considered public records, though some information may be redacted when copies are provided to the public. In some cases, court records may be sealed and require a court order to access, but many others can be accessed easily online.

Court records can be accessed in person at the Courthouse at 525 N Main, 6th floor Court Records department and view records on a public access computer, or online through the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal.
All public access documents are available at the Courthouse from 8 am to 4 pm.
Online court records can be found using The Kansas District Court Public Access Portal. Users will have to register and log in. Records are searchable by Party Name or Case Number. Public users will not be able to see the following case types: Adoptions, Guardian/Conservatorship, Care and Treatment, Coroner Inquest, Domestic (All DM Cases), Grand Jury, Protection from Abuse, Inquisitions, Protection from Stalking, Material Witness, Juvenile CINC (All JC Cases), Miscellaneous Other (MR), Juvenile Offender (All JV Cases), Arrest Expungement, Pre-File IIP, Child Death Review Board Subpoena, Coroner Report, Waiver of Parental Consent, Transfer In Adult, Transfer In Juvenile.
